Simple physics + simple biology = IC

If you have a constant positive current flowing through any conductive material, this current will create an electro-magnetic field that basically will act as any normal magneto. Yes, this is simple electric physics, what about it?
Well, our brains work, among a million of things more, because of electric pulses among the neurons. Yes, this is simple biology, what about it?
I have experienced the demonstration of these two simple facts of two different sciences during the last week.

There were eight powerful minds all working, thinking, processing, and producing currents among the neurons; all these activities inside their brains focused on one trip to Poland under the name of International Congress of AIESEC. And the currents, as simple physics says, where producing an electro-magnetic field that started to attract positive thoughts and unthinkable actions to these 8 focused lives.
We began to hear that one university supported one of them, another university + family the other one, thousands of e-mails, hundreds of appointments, millions of efforts, not that many results, but these beautiful minds kept on trying, they persisted on the positive current production, the magneto became stronger and in the decisive moments… YES, IT BECAME TRUE, just as we dreamed a lot of time ago, just as we strongly wished, we are all going to Poland, and here you can read some of the phrases that were heard at the Dream Team headquarters office, all of them product of the positive thoughts flowing trough these brave individuals’ neurons.

“an uncle who I rarely talked with just bought me the ticket”,
“my aunt who is in Thailand just said, ok, go ahead, buy the ticket”,
“my mom just supported me no matter our financial situation”,
“this girl from the US just told me, go ahead, I sponsor you”
“my dad is borrowing the rest of the money”
“I am going, no matter if the University sponsors me or not”
“your reservations are the only ones still available, there other ones just raised over US1700”
“your room at IC is still available, we have had some cancellations”

As one of my teammates said “querer es poder carajo!!!!” Poland, agarrate de donde podás que acá vamooooooooosss!!!

Poland here we go!

Quedaremos agradecidos eternamente!

EXECUTION with the National Advisory Board

This morning we had our first meeting with the NAB. It is amazing how you feel yourself listening and sharing ideas with such important people in the country. The most impacting moment for me was when Mr. Jorge Alfredo Pinto challenged us to be ourselves differently by using innovation as our key tool to capture the interest of important enterprises which would be willing to see young leader people given more to the country than the rest of the young population, with innovative projects and ideas that would capture the interest of the organizations that invest in the people and the development of our country.

The most relevant about his comment was to realize that the organizations don’t want to be our partners just because they get some concrete in kind benefits from us, like the ones described in the portfolio, but large enterprises (which are now our main target) wants to make their real contribution to our development and of course the social development of our country taking advantage of the capacity to create new ideas.

In this way, there were many ideas and flow of knowledge during the 2 short hours since we start our term, and now we have new energy to continue working the path as THE DREAM TEAM of AIESEC IN COLOMBIA.

Above, Ligia Navarro (Alumni Coordinator), Ivan Pacheco (Director of Education Quality, Minister of Education), MARTHA LUCA VILLEGAS (President JAS- General Director ICETEX), Sabine ziem (MCVP Learning Programs and Projects), Felipe Cardenas (MCVP Sales and Organizational Relations), Alejandra Laiton (MCVP People Development), LINA MARCELA IBAÑEZ ( TLC Negotiation Team Member, Minister of Commerce), Ricardo Obregon (President of PROCAFECOL), Jorge Alfredo Pinto (President of ACOPI), JENNIFER TRUJILLO OBANDO (MCVP Information Systems and Communications),CHRISTIAN SHRADER VALENCIA (Dean of the Faculty of Advertising, Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano), Jorge Gaitan (Professor Universidad de los Andes) and Ivan Lopez (MCP AIESEC IN COLOMBIA).

AIESEC on TV

10:30 a.m. Normal stuff at the Dream Team office. Everyone working on their computers. A normal day. An msn window pops up and as it is a normal day, no one gets surprised, no one stresses out, but the first line read in this window is something special:

"guys, there's people talking about us on TV"

people?

"yes, government representatives talking about our contract, they say we will provide them with international talent in the human displacement issue in Colombia"

whaaatt??, that's great!!

So everyone starts running to the cafeteria where they demand to change the TV chanel to be the witnesses of formal beginnig of the greatest project that AIESEC in Colombia has run in the near past.

After this, everything goes to the normality again, but with a new concept of normality, projects announced on TV, with two digit numbers in exchanges and 8 digit numbers in Colombian pesos. "casual"
